Powerful Category 4 Hurricane Laura continued to strengthen late Wednesday. As of 7 PM it had 150 mph sustained winds with gusts up to a staggering 175 mph. Sustained winds of 157 mph or higher would make it a Category 5 storm.
Forecasters expect Laura to be a “catastrophic” Category 4 hurricane when it makes landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
